Wines

Planted in 1996, our 15,000 vines include Shiraz, Cabernet, Pinot Noir and Semillon. Are all grown on open trellising, exposing the fruit to breezes and dappled sunlight, both important to build the intensity of flavour in the fruit. The vineyard is also blessed with long, warm sunny days during the ripening season and cool nights which build acid and assist the wines to age gracefully.

  • 2003 SPARKLING SHIRAZSparkling Shiraz

The pedigree of this iconic Sparkling Shiraz was a trophy winning 2003 Shiraz. Following secondary fermentation, the wine sat on yeast lees for 2.5 years undergoing autolysis and imparting to the wine lovely biscuity and chocolatey flavours. It’s a methode champenoisé treat for extra special people/occasions. FOOD SUGGESTIONS: Sparkling Shiraz is uniquely Australian. Though it’s [...]

  • 2008 SPARKLING SYNERGYimage-coming-soon

2008 SPARKLING SYNERGY A celebratory blend of three of the world’s greatest red varieties – Shiraz, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. These create a ‘synergy’ which gives this wine a wonderful breadth of character. Secondary fermentation (tirage) in the bottle has accentuated the rich berry/cherry aroma and a delicate dryness/sweetness balance. FOOD SUGGESTIONS: Being lower [...]

  • 2010 SPARKLING WHITE10SWH-thumb

Mudgee Chardonnay is renowned for classic peach flavours tempting us to call this wine ‘Sparkling Peaches’. We resisted and simply called it Sparkling White.  It is crisp, with low sugar and only a hint of sweetness and a satisfyingly dry finish. FOOD SUGGESTIONS: This Sparkling White is an excellent aperitif and is so versatile it [...]

  • 2005 SEMILLON05sem-thumb

Currently, this wine is undergoing a remarkable transformation from Semillon’s typical “lemony” aroma and flavour to “honey & honeysuckle”.From late 2010, this rich ‘butteryness’ and shift from ‘pale lemon’ to ‘straw coloured’ is now virtually complete. From here on, the flavour of this museum wine will keep on getting better for the next decade or [...]

  • 2010 SEMILLON10SEM-thumb

Another classic Semillon with the softness of lemon cheesecake, or perhaps lemon curd. Its higher acidity comes from Mudgee’s cool nights while the region’s warm days help build the soft fresh “lemony” characters. At only 11% alc, the wine has great length (persistence of flavour after you swallow) pre-empting its ability to age gracefully and [...]

  • 2010 SEMILLON/SAUVIGNON BLANC10SSB-thumb

This is our second Sem/Sav Blanc and just like our first has turned out to be quite remarkable. Not only does it have a delightful lemon (from the Semillon) and passionfruit (from the Sav Blanc) aroma and flavour, it is low in alcohol (only 11%), low in calories and low in preservatives. In only a [...]

  • 2010 VERDELHOrsz_verdelho2010

Depending on the vineyard, Verdelho always has the aroma and flavour of tropical fruit. This Verdelho (sourced from Blue Wren Vineyard in Mudgee) exhibits pineapple & passionfruit characters with a hint of residual sweetness. Vibrant and tangy, Verdelho has emerged as a mainstream, full bodied table wine. FOOD SUGGESTIONS: A lovely accompaniment for white meat [...]

  • 2011 SHIRAZ ROSÉrsz_shirazrose2011

From our 2009 Shiraz grapes, this is our first Shiraz Rosé. Once the grapes were crushed and pressed, the juice was left in contact with the skins for hours (rather days) long enough to extract the right amount of colour (only a fraction of the time the skins and juice remain in contact when [...]

  • 2008 PREMIUM CABERNET SAUVIGNON08CAB-thumb

Cabernet grapes crave a warm climate to produce excellent lush, characteristically blackcurrant flavoured Cabernet wines. The grapes take their time to ripen and insist on being fully ripe in order to produce classy outcomes. This 2008 Cabernet is classic Mudgee, with a beautifully soft vanilla taste just as you swallow. FOOD SUGGESTIONS: This fine, full [...]

  • 2008 PREMIUM SHIRAZrsz_2008preshiraz

Now released is our 2008 Premium Shiraz  A surprisingly smooth mouthfeel with a touch of pepper on the finish.     FOOD SUGGESTIONS: What a treat this Limited Release Shiraz is with BBQs or when eating strongly flavoured meat dishes/casseroles.

  • 2010 Gai’s Pinot Noirrsz_gaispinotnoir2010

A distinctive cherry aroma and the typical taste of cherries and berries of Pinot grapes. This is our first straight Pinot and we’re delighted. FOOD SUGGESTIONS: Lovely in Spring and Summer with tasty salads or light pasta dishes.  Teams equally well with seafood or steak.

  • NV (NON VINTAGE) LIQUEUR TOKAYnvlt-thumb

From semi-raisined Muscadelle grapes, this Liqueur Tokay was partially fermented and fortified with brandy spirit. Originally Hungarian, Tokay has a delightfully smokey raisin aroma and flavour (akin to Christmas cake and/or pudding). Even though it is a dessert wine and we love to drizzzzzle it over fresh fruit, it is delightful stand alone liqueur and [...]

  • 2010 BOTRYTIS SEMILLON10BTS-thumb

Picked 5 months later than normal, the grapes were allowed to dehydrate while still building sweetness. As well as retaining a hint of the “lemony” flavour typical of Semillon, some ‘botrytis’-like characters have developed a wonderful ‘apricoty’ flavour. The outcome is an elegant sticky – low in tannin and only 11% alc! FOOD SUGGESTIONS: The [...]
